After debuting at No. 1 last week, Unsane’s album Scattered, Smothered and Covered falls to No. 2 with 962,000, a sales slide of 96%. Since completing 1995’s ‘Scrape’, Unsane fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Now signed to Unsane’s ForeFront Records, the title track from second album “Scattered, Smothered and Covered” leads Unsane’s back-to-school campaign. This is what good Hardcore should be.
In Alleged it becomes nowhere more obvious that Unsane has yet to define own style. Unsane offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Out is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. You have to get essence of the Can’t See’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. When listening to Get Off My Back, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. No Loss - My least favorite song on this album. Opening track Test My Faith shows the best of Unsane. I find myself hearing bits of Ruin here and there throughout my waking hours. Still going through Scattered, Smothered and Covered and coming to appreciate Swim more and more with every listen.
