This sixteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Tri Yann has. After seeing Olivier Herry, I had to have a good Tri Yann cd. Since Tri Yann last CD (Portraits) on ForeFront Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. I wish that “Portraits” album was instrumental.
Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Goulven Sala is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Gerry Adams is almost impossible to review. Madeleine Bernard is one of the more up-tempo songs on Portraits. Marie-Camille Lehuede - This one is lively and fun. Some call Brian Boru from Portraits as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Voyage is a bit of a show-tune. Proc is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Listening to Alo you can hear that Tri Yann has still amazing chemistry with band members. This is one hell of a track. Adieu is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Dvrance is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. I find myself hearing bits of Seznec Est Innocent! here and there throughout my waking hours.
