It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Tom Jones energies, virtually a rebirth. Self-described as Retro with lots of words, Tom Jones comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This album has some very good songs like Ladies Night and Take Me To The River. If you want to hear real Retro, get this record now!
I listened to the opening track Take Me To The River and liked it a lot. Honky Tonk Woman is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Greeen Green Grass of Home because the melody in the chorus is so good. Such hits like On Broadway will leave you hooked. Let It Be is a strong cut, one of many. Passion is a very catchy tune. Right Place, Wrong Time is really the reason why I recommend buying Fever live CD1. Still going through Fever live CD1 and coming to appreciate Hot Legs (Duet with Tina Turner) more and more with every listen. Sexy Eyes is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Fever live CD1 have ended. Bridge Over Troubled Water - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Tom Jones sings Behind Closed Doors in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. In The Midnight Hour has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Celebration is beautiful, yet underrated track. Knock on Wood is the most memorable and cool. Help Me Make it Through the Night is simple, dignified and effective, Tom Jones refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Higher and Higher gives good insight into the truths. I think She’s a Lady is the best song Tom Jones has ever done.
