There is so much to love about The Waterboys, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. After debuting at No. 1 last week, The Waterboys’s album The Best of the Waterboys 1981-1990 falls to No. 2 with 509,000, a sales slide of 93%. This is one of the best Cd’s The Waterboys has dropped to date. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
In Big Music it becomes nowhere more obvious that The Waterboys has yet to define own style. This track is clearly meant to showcase The Waterboys’s vocal abilities. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Spirit is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Fisherman’s Blues is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Killing My Heart is a medium tempo tune. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in The Best of the Waterboys 1981-1990. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: And A Bang On The Ear, which shows, blatantly, how much The Waterboys has evolved as a singer. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Strong, powerful vocals of The Waterboys in Man Is In Love/Kaliope House are very impressive.
