nine years ago, The Time briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “If The Kid Can’t Make You Come”. Since completing 1990’s ‘The Bird’, The Time fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lead single “The Bird” and “If The Kid Can’t Make You Come” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Exciting stuff.
In If The Kid Can’t Make You Come you won’t find any flashy solos. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Within the first few notes of Chili Sauce it’s perfectly clear that The Time is living this song. When I listen to My Drawers in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Ice Cream Castles is absolutely incredible.
