On Stars and Stripes Forever album, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is no doubt that The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has talent. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Stars and Stripes Forever.
Vocals of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in Dirt Band Interview really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Aluminum Record Award because the melody in the chorus is so good. Fish Song which is my favorite is a truly The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band sounding song. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band must have run out of lyrics on the next track Vassar Clements Interview. Listen To The Mockingbird - Check out that bassline! The Sheik Of Araby is a perfect sing-along. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is one of artists that allow his songs like Resign Yourself To Me to stand on their own and be heard. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Cripple Creek is probably one of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Mountain Whippoorwill (Or, How Hillbilly Jim Won The Great Fiddler’s Prize) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Honky Tonkin’ rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. I like the agression and power of House At Pooh Corner. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Once Oh Boy gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band rocks harder than ever with Teardrops In My Eyes. Glocoat Blues - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Voice of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in Stars And Stripes Forever is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. In Battle Of New Orleans full palet of sound is used by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band to accentuate the presentation. It Came From The 50’s (Blast From The Past) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. My True Story - A catchy, upbeat tune. Diggy Liggy Lo is really a nice song to relax and listen too.
