Since The Flaming Lips last CD (Clouds Taste Metallic) on Blue Note Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Self-described as Rock: Pop-Rock with lots of words, The Flaming Lips comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. The Flaming Lips was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from The Flaming Lips and Clouds Taste Metallic together. Overall, I would highly recommend Clouds Taste Metallic CD.
It’s such an underrated song. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. This Here Giraffe is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Brainvile is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Clouds Taste Metallic have ended. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Guy Who Got A Headache and Accidently Saves The World, which shows, blatantly, how much The Flaming Lips has evolved as a singer. In When You Smile The Flaming Lips is at his best. When I listen to Kim’s Watermellon Gun in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. I can’t stop playing They Punctured My Yolk. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Album opener Christmas At The Zoo is a bright, upbeat ditty. Evil Will Prevail is the song that really did it for me. Bad Days (Aurally Excited Version, Mix) - The Flaming Lips first major hit.
