Self-described as Indie with lots of words, The Fall comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Fall energies, virtually a rebirth. There were many famous songs of The Fall available. Middle Class Revolt is the best essence of The Fall.
The Fall allows each song to breathe and flourish. Music and lyrics of Behind the Counter creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. M5#1 has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Surmount All Obstacles is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. I listened to the opening track War and liked it a lot. I can’t stop humming along You’re Not up to Much. Symbol of Mordgan - A catchy, upbeat tune. Hey Student is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Junk Man is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Fall. In City Dweller the music gets its power. In Shut Up you won’t find any flashy solos.
