Self-described as Indie with lots of words, The Fall comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s natural for The Fall to take a stab at ‘Extricate’ considering her long-professed love for B.B. King. This is the first studio album from The Fall since bad diagnosis in 1990. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Overall a nice softer song. Littlest Rebel is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. British People in Hot Weather is simple, dignified and effective, The Fall refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Hilary - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. The Fall has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Telephone Thing is probably the highlight of the album. Arms Control Poseur is a fine track on any terms. Black Monk Theme II had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Such hits like Popcorn, Double Feature will leave you hooked. Bill Is Dead is the more seemingly obscure song on Extricate that bear up best to repeated listening. Extricate couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Black Monk Theme, Pt. 1. I’m Frank - A strong beat. Sing Harpy! as a highlight of Extricate contains a ton of marvelous melodies.
