1966-1969 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. When you buy a The Dubliners album, you know exactly what you’re getting! While no new The Dubliners album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1993 tour in Asia. Seven Drunken Nights and The Galway Races is really good.
This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. The Old Alarm Clock is The Dubliners’s best work in years. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in 1966-1969. The Rising Of The Moon catches attention immediately, McCafferty - arguably the best track on 1966-1969 album. I’ve found myself listening to Seven Deadly Sins back to back and back many times. Net Hauting Song is the song that really did it for me. Nancy Whiskey is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Many Young Men Of Twenty gives taste of what makes The Dubliners special as a musician. The Dubliners emotions are reflected through Paddy’s Gone To France Skylark. Once Molly Bawn gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. The Dundee Weaver is just simply stunning. When listening to The Irish Navy, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. There is perfect mix of music in Darby O’Leary. I now have All For Me Grog as one of my personal favorites. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Peggy Gordon is worth the money. Maid Of The Sweet Brown Kno is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Quare Bungle Rye have really caught my ear and imagination. Flop Eared Mule (Donkey Reel) (1:47) a good melody. Poor Old Dicey Riley - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Whiskey On A Sunday has a fun tempo. Gentelman Soldier has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Still going through 1966-1969 and coming to appreciate Navvy Boots more and more with every listen. This track is full of harmonies and gets 1966-1969 off to a relaxing start. Rattling Roaring Willie is the albums biggest surprise. Mrs McGrath is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Carolan Concerto is one of the best records ever.
