Self-described as Hardcore with lots of words, The Circle Jerks comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. On Gig album, The Circle Jerks have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This is the first studio album from The Circle Jerks since bad diagnosis in 1992. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
High Price On Our Heads is a bit different from The Circle Jerks stereotypical stuff. Letter Bomb rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. In Your Eyes on Gig is solid and easy to listen to. Making The Bombs - Okay, I just talked about depth. All Wound Up is outstanding work of The Circle Jerks. The Circle Jerks emotions are reflected through Coup d’Etat. Only one song from Gig named Mrs. Jones really got me. Back Against The Wall is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. I find myself hearing bits of Casualty Vampire here and there throughout my waking hours. I Don’t is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Making Time is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Nice and different song. I, I And I - This one is lively and fun. World Up My Ass - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. I Just Want Some Skank is one of the best records ever. From the moment you listen to Beverly Hills you’re hooked. The Crowd - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. When The Shit Hits The Fan is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Deny Everything is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Wonderful is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Musically Wild In The Streets is superior to other tracks in Gig.
