‘Final Approach’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This is one of the best Cd’s The Byrds has dropped to date. Lead single “Chestnut Mare” and “Just A Season” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This album is in perfect progression from The Byrds!
In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of The Byrds. No The Byrds song has come close to capturing my attention as Kathleen’s Song did. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Truck Stop Girl. If you are a The Byrds fan, you will love Just Like A Woman. Stanley’s Song is simply gorgeous. Glory, Glory is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track The Byrds ever produced. Charming song, great melody. I Wanna Grow Up To Be A Politician - For me, this is the best of the album. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Tiffany Queen is probably one of The Byrds’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. The song feels complete. Lazy Waters is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Final Approach. Still going through Final Approach and coming to appreciate Farther Along more and more with every listen. I like the agression and power of White’s Lightning. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Mr. Tambourine Man is such a amazing and optimistic song that things can get just better. I hope to keep hearing The Byrds works for a long time to come. A unique and uplifting song. I’ve found myself listening to From A Distance back to back and back many times. The Byrds offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself.
