This is the first studio album from The Breeders since bad diagnosis in 1993. This -song debut EP shows the promise that The Breeders has. It has been six years The Breeders’ last studio CD, “Live Europe” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Live Europe constantly brilliant.
No Aloha without a doubt is the standout song of Live Europe. Flipside is one of the best records ever. The opening track Saints is very much like you would expect from other albums. I find myself hearing bits of Hag here and there throughout my waking hours. Best song on the album, love it. Iris is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Don’t Call Home on Live Europe is solid and easy to listen to. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. When I Was A Painter is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. I like to sing along with Doe, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of The Breeders. Overall a nice softer song. In I Just Wanna Get Along it becomes nowhere more obvious that The Breeders has yet to define own style. In Iris you won’t find any flashy solos. Cannonball is really the reason why I recommend buying Live Europe. Saints is the exquisite blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Hag - another great track from the Live Europe album. I believe Fortunately Gone is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written. When I Was A Painter one of the best in my collection. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Doe is my favorite song on Live Europe. Limehouse is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Hag is The Breeders’s best work in years. The Breeders emotions are reflected through Iris.
