Self-described as Country with lots of words, The Band comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. This is one of the best Cd’s The Band has dropped to date. After debuting at No. 1 last week, The Band’s album Across the Great Divide (CD1) falls to No. 2 with 365,000, a sales slide of 52%. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
The Weight motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. I Shall Be Released (3:13) a good melody. Chest Fever is the first taste of the new album. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is In A Station because the melody in the chorus is so good. To Kingdom Come is possibly the best song The Band has come up. One listen to the sheer beauty of Lonesome Suzie was all I needed. Rag Mama Rag is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down one of the best in my collection. In King Harvest (Has Surely Come) The Band is at his best. Opening track Rockin’ Chair shows the best of The Band. Whispering Pines - another great track from the Across the Great Divide (CD1) album. Up On Cripple Creek has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Across The Great Divide is the more seemingly obscure song on Across the Great Divide (CD1) that bear up best to repeated listening. Unfaithful Servant is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything The Band released so far. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. I like the agression and power of Daniel and The Sacred Harp. All La Glory make listening to The Band like being in some sort of time warp. The Band sings Stage Fright in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved.
