This album has some very good songs like Yesterday’s Hero and Log One (That Girl). I am not a real Rock: Hard-Rock music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Platinum Rare’ really is amazing. Sweet’s debut, ‘Platinum Rare’, does not fit easily into one genre. If I may, I suggest “Yesterday’s Hero”. That one song is amazing!
Log One (That Girl) sets the tone for the entire album. Cockroach is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. 4th Of July - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Album opener Harold Wonders Why? is a bright, upbeat ditty. Strong, powerful vocals of Sweet in Falling In Love are very impressive. Two Into One to me is the best you can get from Sweet. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Platinum Rare. Vocals of Sweet in Fire Engine really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Mother Earth is the albums biggest surprise. Within the first few notes of Play All Night it’s perfectly clear that Sweet is living this song. Scratch ‘n’ Sniff as a highlight of Platinum Rare contains a ton of marvelous melodies. You Don’t Care About Me still maintains something of a specific flourish. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. The song feels complete. Strong Love is almost impossible to review. After about the third Call Me (Give Me Your Love) listen through, I began to believe this song is Sweet’s essence. Where Do We Go From Here - arguably the best track on Platinum Rare album. Galaxy (Demo Version) - Check out that bassline! Galaxy (Televion Theme) is worth the money.
