It has been thirteen years Sublime’ last studio CD, “Pure Anus” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Sublime’s new album to that on ‘Pure Anus’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Sublime has. Enjoy the show.
Crazy Fool (3:50) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. In New Realization the music gets its power. ‘89 Vision is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. After you’ve listened to Battle Bradley (Dub), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Doin’ Time (Hip Hop Dub) - Sublime first major hit. Wrong Way (Demo) - A strong beat. Loveline Session 1 makes a person feel astounding. Get Pure Anus and turn on I Love My Dog if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Pure Anus is Loveline Session 2. April 29th, 1992 (3:46) - awsome. This song may be the most meaningful. Dogs (Dub) - My least favorite song on this album. Kingstep (Dub) is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. What’s Really Going Wrong is a very catchy tune. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Pure Anus. Album opener ‘89 Vision (Dub) is a bright, upbeat ditty. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Doin’ Time because the melody in the chorus is so good. I can’t stop humming along Legalize It. Once you hear Hong Kong Phooey, you will listen to it over and over. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Z-Man’s 40oz. / Robbin’ The Hood Commercial is outstanding work of Sublime.
