I am not a real Blues music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Greatest Hits’ really is amazing. Lead single “Change It” and “Cold Shot” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. On Greatest Hits album, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Cold Shot is pretty funky and mellow. Once you hear Couldn’t Stand The Weather, you will listen to it over and over. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. LIfe Without You is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Little Wing is a striking and quite long song. The opening track Pride and Joy is very much like you would expect from other albums. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble sings Taxman in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Texas Flood is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. The House Is Rockin’ still maintains something of a specific flourish. Tightrope - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem.
