Laser Guided Melodies isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Since completing 1992’s ‘You Know It’s True’, Spiritualized fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for Spiritualized to take a stab at ‘You Know It’s True’ considering her long-professed love for B.B. King. IT makes me wanna dance!
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: If I Were With Her Now, which shows, blatantly, how much Spiritualized has evolved as a singer. I Want You make listening to Spiritualized like being in some sort of time warp. Run is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. The song Smiles ending is my favorite… so catchy! Step Into The Breeze - a classic song. Symphony Space is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Spiritualized must have run out of lyrics on the next track Shine A Light. Best song on the album, love it. Sway - A classic Spiritualized track. Once 200 Bars gets in your head, it will NEVER leave.
