Since completing 1995’s ‘Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (U2)’, Soundtrack - Various Artists fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. ‘Batman Forever’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Batman Forever isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Such great and happy songs.
All of songs on Batman Forever and have something to say letting alone One Time Too Many (PJ Harvey). Where Are You Now (Brandy) one is one of the better boring ones. The sound in Kiss From A Rose (Seal) is really warm and Soundtrack - Various Artists’s signature voice is still very much present. The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game (Massive Attack With Tracey Thorn) is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Nobody Lives Without Love (Eddie Reader) is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. The song Tell Me Now (Mazzy Star) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Smash It Up (The Offspring) motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. There Is A Light (Nick Cave) is another favourite of mine. The Riddler (Method Man) is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Soundtrack - Various Artists has astounded me with this amazing track. Crossing The River (The Devlins) is the most memorable and exquisite. 8 (Sunny Day Real Estate) is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Soundtrack - Various Artists.
