Bun B. Hear has compared writing for Sopor Aeternus’s new album to that on ‘Todeswunsch’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lead single “Flesh Crucifix” and “Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Sopor Aeternus was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Sopor Aeternus and Todeswunsch together. To me Sopor Aeternus is the best band ever.
I think Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes is the best song Sopor Aeternus has ever done. In Shadowsphere I you won’t find any flashy solos. Musically Shadowsphere II is superior to other tracks in Todeswunsch. Saltatio Crudelitatis is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Sopor Aeternus ever produced. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Sopor Aeternus. Soror Sui Excidium catches attention immediately, Sopor Aeternus allows each song to breathe and flourish. The Devil’s Instrument - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Lyrics of Todeswunsch (version) are precise and evocative. This track is clearly meant to showcase Sopor Aeternus’s vocal abilities. Sopor Aeternus offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit (part II) is a cool song and it grows on you. Saturn - Impressionen is a very catchy tune. Overall a nice softer song. Not Dead But Dying is a medium tempo tune. Only The Dead In The Mist (5:12) a good melody. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Cage Within A Cage is beautiful, yet underrated track.
