This is the first studio album from Sonic Youth since bad diagnosis in 1995. After seeing Becuz, I had to have a good Sonic Youth cd. Since Sonic Youth last CD (Washing Machine [VINYL]) on Columbia Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is what good Indie should be.
Don’t judge Junkie’s Promise on the first listening. Saucer-Like is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. The sound in Unwind is really warm and Sonic Youth’s signature voice is still very much present. Little Trouble Girl is the funkiest number on the album. No Queen Blues is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Panty Lies - Sonic Youth first major hit. Skip Tracer is so unique, as each one of the songs is. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot.
