Blues In The East carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. This thirteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Sola has. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Sola’s album Blues In The East falls to No. 2 with 993,000, a sales slide of 56%. I Love Blues In The East from start to finish!
Boya’s Adventure is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Meeting With The Woodcutter Ziqi as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. A Discourse On The Zither - arguably the best track on Blues In The East album. The Appointment With Ziqi is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Sola ever produced. Boya’s Lament stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Married To Exile - Beyond The Great Wall is a medium tempo tune. The Goose is one of the best records ever. Looking Back is really the reason why I recommend buying Blues In The East. I like to sing along with The Nation’s Boundaries, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. I think Oh Mother is the best song Sola has ever done.
