This is one of the best Cd’s SOIA has dropped to date. Scratch The Surface isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is so much to love about SOIA, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Exciting stuff.
Voice and instruments in Insurrection complement each other. Consume is perfect. Who Sets The Rules hits the heart. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Step Down - a classic song. A fantastic track full of wonder. Scratch The Surface pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Free Spirit is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Force My Hand is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Desperate Fool - A strong beat. After you’ve listened to Return To Reality, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Farm Team is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Scratch The Surface. In Ceasefire the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
