I am not a real Ethnic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Vioces From The Distant Steppe’ really is amazing. Lead single “Sygyt, Khoomei, Kargyraa” and “Aian Dudal” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. While no new Shu-De album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1994 tour in Europe. This is one of Shu-De best albums
Blew our minds when we first heard Aian Dudal. Beezhinden is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Buura is nothing but pure genius. Durgen Chugaa is probably the highlight of the album. Throat-Singing and Igil is a fine track on any terms. No Shu-De song has come close to capturing my attention as Yraazhy Kys did. Shyngyr-Shyngyr - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Baian-Dudai is just simply stunning. Khomus Solo - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Voice of Shu-De in Meen Khemchim is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Opei Yry because the melody in the chorus is so good. Musically Tyva-Uriankhai is superior to other tracks in Vioces From The Distant Steppe. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Kadarchynyng Yry is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. As always, Shu-De’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
