There is so much to love about Sebadoh, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Sebadoh. It’s natural for Sebadoh to take a stab at ‘Temporary Dream’ considering her long-professed love for Godsplague. The Freed Weed touched my soul like nothing else.
New Worship (2:21) a good melody. I can’t stop humming along Subtle Holy Gift. First time I heard My Own Religion was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Ride the Darker Wave - My least favorite song on this album. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Sebadoh. I like the agression and power of Jealous of Jesus. A fantastic track full of wonder. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Perfect Power because the melody in the chorus is so good. Feeding Evil sets the tone for the entire album. Sexual Confusion is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Three Times a Day is the more seemingly obscure song on The Freed Weed that bear up best to repeated listening. Gate to Hell is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. After you’ve listened to Broken, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Sebadoh. I like I Can’t See, Take My Hand because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. In Pound My Skinny Head it becomes nowhere more obvious that Sebadoh has yet to define own style. Album opener I Believe in Fate is a bright, upbeat ditty. Waited Forever is amazing and different song. Waited rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Sebadoh offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Brand New Love is outstanding work of Sebadoh. Burning Out is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Little Man is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. The Freed Weed couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Punch in the Nose. The first time I listened to Loose ‘N’ Screw I was struck by its amazing sound. Jealous Evil - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Within the first few notes of Moldy Bread it’s perfectly clear that Sebadoh is living this song. Stop The Wheel - another great track from the The Freed Weed album. Sebadoh emotions are reflected through Made Real. I like to sing along with Close Enough, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Level Anything is the most memorable and excellent. Sebadoh must have run out of lyrics on the next track Soul Mate. Nest on The Freed Weed is solid and easy to listen to. Narrow Stories gives taste of what makes Sebadoh special as a musician. Ladybugs - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites. Yellow Submarine is the albums biggest surprise. Some of the arrangements found on The Freed Weed are surprisingly edgy. Crumbs is a bit different from Sebadoh stereotypical stuff. This song may be the most meaningful.
