Now signed to Rod Stewart’s Mute Records, the title track from second album “Spanner in the Works” leads Rod Stewart’s back-to-school campaign. Spanner in the Works isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. On Spanner in the Works album, Rod Stewart have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
The Downtown Lights one of the best in my collection. Music in Leave Virgina Alone is gorgeous as in all tracks of Spanner in the Works. I believe Sweetheart Like You is one of the most exquisite, heartfelt songs ever written. This is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Spanner in the Works have ended. Lady Luck is a very catchy tune. You’re The Star - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Rod Stewart. A fantastic track full of wonder. I now have Hang On St. Christopher as one of my personal favorites. Music of Delicious is gentle, never overbearing. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Rod Stewart. Purple Heather has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album.
