Mila Sparrow has compared writing for Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers’s new album to that on ‘Live at B.B. King’s Blues Club’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. While no new Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1994 tour in Africa. Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Live at B.B. King’s Blues Club is the best essence of Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers.
Love and Money is a good listen every once in a while. Murder in the 1st Degree is a striking and quite long song. Clap Your Hands one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. Listening to California Fire Blues you can hear that Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers has still amazing chemistry with band members. Voice of Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers in Diamonds at Her Feet is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Ju Ju Cocktail is nothing but pure genius. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Stinger because the melody in the chorus is so good. Blue Hour good vocals. Southern Lady - For me, this is the best of the album. They Want Money is the album’s biggest hit, I think.
