After debuting at No. 1 last week, Rock - Various Artists’s album Duran Duran - Best Balad falls to No. 2 with 508,000, a sales slide of 79%. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Rock - Various Artists on ‘A Whiter shade Of Pale (Anne Lennox)’. Since Rock - Various Artists last CD (Duran Duran - Best Balad) on Columbia Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. Smart music for smart people.
Some call Diamond Ring. (Bon Jovi) from Duran Duran - Best Balad as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. In Have You Ever Realy Loved A Woman (Bryan Adams) full palet of sound is used by Rock - Various Artists to accentuate the presentation. In Think Twice (Celine Dion) you won’t find any flashy solos. Dream A Little Dream Of Me (Chicago Feat.Jade) is a strong cut, one of many. Rock - Various Artists is one of artists that allow his songs like 74-75 (Connels) to stand on their own and be heard. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Perfect Day (Duran Duran) is my favorite song on Duran Duran - Best Balad. J Sole Mio (Luchiano Pavarotti and Brayan Adams) which is my favorite is a truly Rock - Various Artists sounding song. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. If you are a Rock - Various Artists fan, you will love You’re Not Alone (Michael Jackson). I came to like You’ve Realy Got A Hold On Me (Mike and The Mechanics). This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. The song Back For Good (Take That) ending is my favorite… so catchy! Holdin’ On To You (TerenceTrent D’Arby) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Rock - Various Artists.
