Thom Yorke has compared writing for Robert Fripp’s new album to that on ‘Kan-non Power’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lead single “Sound Scape” and “Yamanashi Blues” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Robert Fripp has. If you want to hear real Ambient, get this record now!
Yamanashi Blues is probably the most interesting track on Kan-non Power. Album opener Melrose Avenue is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. An Easy Way - This one is lively and fun. Moving Force without a doubt is the standout song of Kan-non Power. I think Asturias is the best song Robert Fripp has ever done. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Chromatic Fantasy - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Robert Fripp. What sets Contrapunctus apart is Robert Fripp’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. In Eye Of The Needle Robert Fripp spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Blockhead make listening to Robert Fripp like being in some sort of time warp. Hope is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Robert Fripp released so far. After few listenings I started to like Urban Scape more and more. Pipeline is a bit different from Robert Fripp stereotypical stuff.
