While no new Richard Searles album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1992 tour in Asia. Self-described as Celtic with lots of words, Richard Searles comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. I am not a real Celtic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Emerald Castles’ really is amazing. Oh yes, this album gets Array out of Array
Get Emerald Castles and turn on Planxty Burke if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Separation Of Soul and Body - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Carolan’s Favorite Jig is probably the highlight of the album. The Limerick Rake actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Richard Searles’s face. Carolan’s Frolic is a excellent song and it grows on you. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Roaring Jelly is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. In Mrs. Farrell the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Arthur Mcbride which is my favorite is a truly Richard Searles sounding song. A unique and uplifting song. Pigeon On The Gate can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Richard Searles is all about. If you are a Richard Searles fan, you will love Captain Higgins. In Morgan Magan Richard Searles is at his best.
