Circenses, I had to have a good Respighi cd. Respighi had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Feste Romane - Fontane di Roma - Pini di Roma (Giuseppe Sinopoli) is the best essence of Respighi.
Feste Romane - II. Giubileo is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Feste Romane - III. L’Ottobrata is probably the highlight of the album. Respighi is one of artists that allow his songs like Feste Romane - IV. La Befana to stand on their own and be heard. I love the melodic melody of Fontane di Roma - I. La Fontana di Valle Giulia all’Alba and to this day it makes me feel good. Fontane di Roma - II. La Fontana del Tritone al Mattino catches attention immediately, Fontane di Roma - III. La Fontana di Trevi al Meriggio is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Fontane di Roma - IV. La Fontana di Villa Medici al Tramonto is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. Music of Pini di Roma - I. Pini di Villa Borghese is gentle, never overbearing. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists.
