This disc has all of the essential Red Flag classics. On The Lighthouse album, Red Flag have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Lead single “Inner Sea” and “Ambient Tier” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Exciting stuff.
Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Shame On The Moon as a highlight of The Lighthouse contains a ton of gorgeous melodies. Cry Me A River - My least favorite song on this album. My Love presents the excellent mix of instruments on The Lighthouse. In My Dreams - This is a very lively song. Ruby Roses is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. The sound in Things We Say is really warm and Red Flag’s signature voice is still very much present. The Lighthouse is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Inner Sea (revisited) very upbeat. Cry Me A River (revisited) - Well, here we get a bit more meaning.
