It’s natural for Rabih Abou-Khalil to take a stab at ‘Catania’ considering her long-professed love for Godless Cruelty. John Digester has compared writing for Rabih Abou-Khalil’s new album to that on ‘Al-Jadida’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Rabih Abou-Khalil on ‘Catania’. This is my first Rabih Abou-Khalil Album and i must say i am blown away.
|titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Simple and heartfelt closing track An Evening with Jerry closes Al-Jadida on a high note. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Ornette Never Sleeps is the albums biggest surprise. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Nadim because the melody in the chorus is so good. I like the idea behind Wishing Well.
