This album has some very good songs like Past the Point of Rescue - Mary Black and Irresistible Targets - John Stewart. I am not a real Folk music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Best of Folk Music’ really is amazing. When you buy a Putumayo album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This album is in perfect progression from Putumayo!
This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Hammer and a Nail - Indigo Girls is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Ireland - Greg Trooper (4:18) - awsome. Never Go Back - Christine Lavin is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Know When to Move - John McCutcheon. Play Me Backwards - Joan Baez to me is the best you can get from Putumayo. This track is full of harmonies and gets Best of Folk Music off to a relaxing start. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Who Woulda Thunk It - Greg Brown is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better. I believe Mine Fields (From Years to Hours) - Catie Curtis is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written. B.B. King Was Wrong - John Gorka - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. My Father’s Shoes - Cliff Eberhardt is almost impossible to review.
