Ivan Grach has compared writing for Paul Mauriat’s new album to that on ‘Gold Concert’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. It’s natural for Paul Mauriat to take a stab at ‘Sabre Dance’ considering her long-professed love for Orkrist. This disc has all of the essential Paul Mauriat classics. Gold Concert is not something you should pass up.
The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Serenade presents the gorgeous mix of instruments on Gold Concert. In Just the Way You Are the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Iberia Siempre Iberia is pretty funky and mellow. Cerisier Rose et Pommier Blanc… the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Put Malaguena into car stereo for your highway driving Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Gold Concert is Reverie. Western Fingers - another great track from the Gold Concert album. I loved Recuerdos de la Alhambra the first time I heard it. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Penelope without a doubt is the standout song of Gold Concert. Licha, El Bimbo which is my favorite is a truly Paul Mauriat sounding song.
