Hardcastle 1 isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is no doubt that Paul Hardcastle has talent. Can’t Stop Now - This one is lively and fun. Lazy Days has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Never Let You Go, which shows, blatantly, how much Paul Hardcastle has evolved as a singer. Best song on the album, love it. The Only One make listening to Paul Hardcastle like being in some sort of time warp. You May Be Gone is absolutely incredible. In It Must Be Love it becomes nowhere more obvious that Paul Hardcastle has yet to define own style. Vocals of Paul Hardcastle in Driftin’ Away really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Forever Dreamin’ is simply exquisite. Cruisin’ To Midnight is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Still going through Hardcastle 1 and coming to appreciate Do It Again more and more with every listen. Overall a nice softer song.
