Since Patrick O’hearn last CD (Mix Up) on Mute Records back in 1990, I have felt a massive void in my life. On Mix Up album, Patrick O’hearn have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Self-described as Ambient with lots of words, Patrick O’hearn comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Patrick O’hearn “Mix Up” is an amazing album.
It’s such an underrated song. Get Mix Up and turn on Journey To Yoroba if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Black Delilah is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. The Illusionist is the albums biggest surprise. Mixed Up is one of the best records ever. Within the first few notes of Chatahochee Field Day it’s perfectly clear that Patrick O’hearn is living this song. So Saxy pretty much defines how I feel spiritually.
