Lead single “Abul Hagag” and “It’s A Hup Ho World” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Ozric Tentacles’s debut, ‘Afterswish 1984 - 91 (CD 2)’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is one of the best Cd’s Ozric Tentacles has dropped to date. Great Alternative right here!
It’s A Hup Ho World is astounding. The Dusty Pouch gives taste of what makes Ozric Tentacles special as a musician. Thrashing Breath Texture stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. After you’ve listened to Floating Seeds, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. When listening to Invisible Carpet, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. The Code For Chickendon - Check out that bassline! The song feels complete. Mae Hong Song can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Ozric Tentacles is all about. Symetricum is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through Afterswish 1984 - 91 (CD 2). As always, Ozric Tentacles’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I can’t stop humming along Sliding and Gliding.
