On Paraskenia album, Ordo Equitum Solis have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It has been six years Ordo Equitum Solis’ last studio CD, “Paraskenia” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Lead single “Playing with the Fire” and “Father of Incantation” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Father of Incantation is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Utopia - This one is lively and fun. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Solem Expectans is my favorite song on Paraskenia. In This is the Way Ordo Equitum Solis is at his best. Ordo Equitum Solis has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Our Lady of the Wild Flowers is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. The first time I listened to The Road to Babylon I was struck by its astounding sound. Reis Glorios is perfect. Paraskenia couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Angoris Nox. Put De Fortuna into car stereo for your highway driving
