Since Orbital last CD (Orbital) on Virgin Records back in 1991, I have felt a massive void in my life. It has been four years Orbital’ last studio CD, “Orbital” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Lead single “The Moebius” and “Speed Freak” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Exciting stuff.
Get Orbital and turn on Speed Freak if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Oolaa is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Put Desert Storm into car stereo for your highway driving Fahrenheit 303 is the song that really did it for me. Orbital sings Steel Cube Idolatry in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. High Rise is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. I can’t stop humming along Chime Live. Midnight Live stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. When listening to Belfast, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Musically Outro is superior to other tracks in Orbital.
