Reading Festival isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Since Nirvana last CD (Reading Festival) on SixSteps records back in 1992, I have felt a massive void in my life. Nirvana’s debut, ‘Reading Festival’, does not fit easily into one genre. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Drain You is probably the highlight of the album. Anuerysm - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. School is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Sliver. Simple and heartfelt closing track In Bloom closes Reading Festival on a high note. Come As You Are is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. In Lithium you won’t find any flashy solos. About A Girl is one of the best records ever. tourette’s is one of my favorite songs by Nirvana. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Nirvana. Opening track Lounge Act shows the best of Nirvana. After about the third Smells Like Teen Spirit listen through, I began to believe this song is Nirvana’s essence. On A Plain is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Negative Creep can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Nirvana is all about. Been A Son sets the tone for the entire album. Album opener All Apologies is a bright, upbeat ditty. I like Blew because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Musically Dumb is superior to other tracks in Reading Festival. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Reading Festival. Put Spank Thru into car stereo for your highway driving Nirvana emotions are reflected through Love Buzz. Smoke On The Water is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Money Will Roll Right In is the albums biggest surprise. I loved D-7 the first time I heard it. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Nice and different song.
