This is one of the best Cd’s Natalie Merchant has dropped to date. Natalie Merchant’s debut, ‘Tigerlily’, does not fit easily into one genre. This twelve-song debut EP shows the promise that Natalie Merchant has. Exciting stuff.
Wonder gives taste of what makes Natalie Merchant special as a musician. I think Beloved Wife is the best song Natalie Merchant has ever done. River still maintains something of a specific flourish. I was truly moved when I heard Carnival. I like I May Know The Word because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. The Letter is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Jealousy is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. There is perfect mix of music in Seven Years.
