Philosophy of Momus carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. It’s natural for Momus to take a stab at ‘Toothbrushead’ considering her long-professed love for Depeche Mode. There is no doubt that Momus has talent. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Philosophy of Momus.
Madness Of Lee Scratch Perry is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Song It’s Important To Be Trendy is actually a funny song. Some of the arrangements found on Philosophy of Momus are surprisingly edgy. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Momus sings Yokohama Chinatown in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Withinity. K’s Diary - My least favorite song on this album. Virtual Valerie - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. I can’t stop playing Red Pyjamas. Momus breathes new life into the music in Cabinet Of Kuniyoshi Kaneko. Slide Projector Lie Detector is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Microworlds one of the best in my collection. Complicated - To me, this is the best song on the Philosophy of Momus. Momus must have run out of lyrics on the next track I Had A Girl. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Loneliness Of Lift Music - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Momus offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Momus has astounded me with this amazing track.
