Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Mobb Deep’s new album to that on ‘The Infamous’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. The Infamous isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. There is so much to love about Mobb Deep, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Last Hot Album by Mobb Deep
From the moment you listen to The Infamous Prelude you’re hooked. Survival Of The Fittest - A catchy, upbeat tune. Eye For A Eye (your Beef Is Mine) presents the marvelous mix of instruments on The Infamous. Just Step Prelude to me is the best you can get from Mobb Deep. Give Up The Goods (just Step) is a strong cut, one of many. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Some call Up North Trip from The Infamous as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Trife Life is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Q U -hectic one is one of the better boring ones. This song stands out greatly from the others. I like the idea behind The Grave Prelude. The Cradle To The Grave has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Mobb Deep’s strong vocals come to the fore. Drink Away The Pain (situations) is probably one of Mobb Deep’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Mobb Deep offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. I was truly moved when I heard Party Over. Opening track Shook Ones Pt I (original Version) shows the best of Mobb Deep. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor.
