It’s natural for Millencolin to take a stab at ‘Mr. Clean’ considering her long-professed love for Gridlok. Millencolin’s debut, ‘Same Old Tunes’, does not fit easily into one genre. Since Millencolin last CD (Same Old Tunes) on EMI Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. This album is in perfect progression from Millencolin!
Millencolin sings Chiquita Chaser in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Disney Times have really caught my ear and imagination. What sets Domestic Subway apart is Millencolin’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Fazil’s Friend is perfect. Leona is the song that really did it for me. The sound in House Of Blend is really warm and Millencolin’s signature voice is still very much present. Some of the arrangements found on Same Old Tunes are surprisingly edgy. Mystic Reptile is probably one of Millencolin’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Dance Craze is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Music and lyrics of The Einstein Crew creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. In Take It Or Leave It the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation.
