Metal - Various Artists was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Metal - Various Artists and Crown Of Thorns - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute) together. This is the first studio album from Metal - Various Artists since bad diagnosis in 1995. I am not a real Metal music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Crown Of Thorns - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute)’ really is amazing. Crionics (Merciless) and Post Mortem (Seance) is really good.
Post Mortem (Seance) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Altar Of Sacrifice (Invocator) is probably the highlight of the album. Black Magic (Hypocrisy) - To me, this is the best song on the Crown Of Thorns - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute). Spill The Blood (Grope) had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Metal - Various Artists sings his heart out in Jesus Saves (Enslaved). I listened to the opening track Criminally Insane (Edge Of Sanity) and liked it a lot. Once you hear Antichrist (Dissection), you will listen to it over and over. After about the third Mandatory Suicide (Crown Of Thorns) listen through, I began to believe this song is Metal - Various Artists’s essence. South Of Heaven (Cemetary) - A catchy, upbeat tune. In Captor Of Sin (At The Gates) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Metal - Various Artists has yet to define own style.
