Metal - Various Artists was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Metal - Various Artists and At The Gates - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute) together. It has been seven years Metal - Various Artists’ last studio CD, “At The Gates - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute)” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. There is so much to love about Metal - Various Artists, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Exciting stuff.
Crionics (Merciless) is a bit different from Metal - Various Artists stereotypical stuff. Altar Of Sacrifice (Invocator) is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Black Magic (Hypocrisy) is kind of track that compels you to skip back and drink it in one more time before moving on through At The Gates - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute). Spill The Blood (Grope) is simple, dignified and effective, Metal - Various Artists refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Criminally Insane (Edge Of Sanity) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. In Antichrist (Dissection) the music gets its power. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on At The Gates - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute) is Mandatory Suicide (Crown Of Thorns). South Of Heaven (Cemetary) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Only one song from At The Gates - Slatanic Slaughter (Tribute) named Captor Of Sin (At The Gates) really got me.
