‘Untamed Hawk CD2′ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It has been six years Merle Haggard’ last studio CD, “Untamed Hawk CD2″ which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Since Merle Haggard last CD (Untamed Hawk CD2) on SixSteps records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. One of Merle Haggard’s best albums yet.
Our Hearts Are Holding Hands (& Bonnie Owens) is one of these floating songs. After few listenings I started to like Too Used To Being With You (& Bonnie Owens) more and more. I was truly moved when I heard That Makes Two Of Us (& Bonnie Owens). I like the idea behind Forever And Ever (& Bonnie Owens). I loved Wait A Little Longer Please Jesus (W Bonnie Owens) the first time I heard it. Merle Haggard is hitting on all cylinders in Swinging Doors. Swinging Doors (Alt) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Lyrics of The Girl Turned Ripe are precise and evocative. I Threw Away The Rose is marvelous work of Merle Haggard. The Fugitive is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Merle Haggard must have run out of lyrics on the next track Loneliness Is Eating Me Alive. Someone Told My Story - A strong beat. The song feels complete. Hang Up My Gloves has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Merle Haggard’s strong vocals come to the fore. The Longer You Wait presents the astounding mix of instruments on Untamed Hawk CD2. The Bottle Let Me Down is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. I Can’t Stand Me is nothing but pure genius. After you’ve listened to Someone Else You’ve Known, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. High On A Hilltop motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. The sound of I’ll Look Over You is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. No More You And Me sets the tone for the entire album. Music and lyrics of Mixed Up Mess Of A Heart creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. I’m A Lonesome Fugitive - My least favorite song on this album. This is probably my favorite song on the album. This song stands out greatly from the others. All Of You Belongs To Me is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Merle Haggard ever produced.
