‘Body and Soul’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Maynard Ferguson’s album Body and Soul falls to No. 2 with 319,000, a sales slide of 64%. Lead single “Expresso” and “Body & Soul” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Another great offering from Maynard Ferguson.
After you’ve listened to Body & Soul, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. M.O.T. is the song that really did it for me. This song is dynamic and dramatic. All of songs on Body and Soul and have something to say letting alone Last Dive. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. The first time I listened to Central Park I was struck by its astounding sound.
