There is no doubt that Massive Attack has talent. Since Massive Attack last CD (Protection (Karmacoma)) on Mute Records back in 1995, I have felt a massive void in my life. It’s natural for Massive Attack to take a stab at ‘Protection’ considering her long-professed love for Armin Van Buuren. Protection (Karmacoma) is preety good and all the songs have a good meaning behind them.
What sets Karmacoma apart is Massive Attack’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This is one hell of a track. Weather Storm is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Protection (Karmacoma) have ended. Don’t judge Spying Glass on the first listening. Better Things - This one makes me want to not only sing along. Eurochild pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Sly is the albums biggest surprise. Heat Miser is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. I believe Light My Fire (Live) is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Karmacoma (Album Version) is such a gorgeous and optimistic song that things can get just better. Karmacoma (The Napoli Trip) is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Karmacoma (Unkle Situation) (2:41) - awsome. Karmacoma (Portishead Experience) is a great opener for Protection (Karmacoma). Some call Karmacoma (Mad Proffessor) from Protection (Karmacoma) as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin.
